The adjustment mechanism of the drum makes it a reliable companion. Even in humid summer weather, you won't be caught out, as you can easily adjust the skin tension using the inner tube. This is a particularly handy feature when you need an "always-ready" drum for healing work or performances. The adjustment mechanism operates simply through a car tyre valve. Note! We use a car valve, which is easier to adjust. An ordinary bicycle pump won't work with this valve.
Nature and caring for it is very important to us, which is why we source the drum's materials primarily from local, responsible suppliers. The frame is bent from double birch plywood, which is treated with wood wax. The shamanic drum's skin is Finnish reindeer hide, either natural or dyed in stunning colours with water-based stain. The drum's handle is made from wood gathered from the forest, shaped to fit the hand comfortably and bound into a cross with cord. The handle provides an excellent playing grip on the drum.

N.B. An adjustable drum is a functional solution, but even it won't sound in extreme conditions. Also note that pumping air in—tightening/loosening—stretches the drum skin and over time diminishes the skin's playing qualities. Oiling keeps the skin supple. For long-term storage, it's worth releasing the air from the tube so it doesn't unnecessarily strain the skin.

The drum's adjustability makes it a trustworthy companion. During summer's humid weather, you won't be caught out - you can easily adjust the drum skin's tension using the inner tube. This feature is particularly handy when you need an 'always playable' drum for healing work, forest journeys, or performances.
Note: We use a car-type valve for easier adjustment. A standard bicycle pump won't be compatible with this valve.

*Please note: whilst the adjustable drum is a reliable instrument, it won't perform in extreme conditions either. Also bear in mind that pumping air - tightening and loosening - stretches the drum skin and will, over time, affect its acoustic properties.
