Handcrafted in our Lapland workshop, this M-size shamanic drum is truly versatile. Its deep, belly-resonating sound instantly draws you and your listeners into a state of presence. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced drummer, this drum will fit your hand like an old friend.
The drum’s adjustment mechanism makes it a trustworthy companion for all situations*. During summer’s humid weather, you won’t be caught out – you can easily adjust the drum skin’s tension using the inner tube. This feature is particularly handy when you need an ‘always playable’ drum for healing work or performances.
The adjustment mechanism is simple to use via a car-type valve. You’ll just need a pump, which you can purchase separately from our selection if you don’t already have one.
Nature and its preservation are incredibly important to us, which is why we source our drum materials primarily from local, responsible producers. The frame is crafted from double-layered birch plywood, finished with wood wax. The drum skin is made from local reindeer hide, available either natural or beautifully water-stained in various colours. The drum features a wooden cross-grip handle bound with cord, providing excellent control while playing.

*Please note: whilst the adjustable drum is a reliable instrument, it won’t perform in extreme conditions. Also bear in mind that pumping air – tightening and loosening – stretches the drum skin and will, over time, affect its acoustic properties.

Care and Storage
Your shamanic drum is low-maintenance, though there are a few basic principles to remember:
- Apply leather conditioner several times a year
- Store on a wall, away from direct sunlight, heat pumps, and radiators. A drum bag is also an excellent storage option
- Never leave in a hot car during summer
- The drum doesn’t fare well in dry conditions, as the skin may overtighten and tear
- Detailed care and consecration instructions are included with your purchase
Tuning
Customisation
Acrylic and oil paints adhere best to non-conditioned leather, as do various permanent markers (note that some marker colours may fade or change over time due to sunlight).
We condition our drums immediately after crafting to prevent tearing. If you’re planning to create large designs on the drum’s surface, we recommend contacting us beforehand to ensure the drum skin is suitable for painting (the conditioning gradually dissipates, so painting becomes possible after some time).
The drum frame is birch plywood, suitable for carving or painting symbols. Various talismans, feathers, beads, and natural ornaments work beautifully as decorations.
Consecrating Your Shamanic Drum
The consecration of a drum is an ancient tradition where owner and drum ‘bond’ together, making the drum deeply personal.
Whilst not essential, it’s a beautiful, time-honoured tradition.
