There are places in the world where the boundary between the everyday and the sacred feels very thin. Finnish Lapland is one of them.

It is here, in the vast stillness of the northern wilderness, that the Sami people developed one of the most profound spiritual traditions the world has ever known. At the heart of that tradition was the drum, the shaman’s most sacred tool. In the hands of the noaidi, the Sami shaman, the drum was a compass, a vehicle, and a voice. Its rhythmic beat carried the shaman across the threshold into the other realms, where the wisdom of ancestors waited, where guidance could be sought, and where the great forces of nature spoke in a language older than words.

The symbols painted on the drumskin were not decoration. They were a map of the cosmos — sacred sites, the World Tree connecting the realms above and below, the sun, the reindeer, the spirits of land and sky. Each symbol a landmark in an inner landscape that the noaidi knew intimately.

Our Sami-inspired drums are crafted in deep respect for this extraordinary heritage. Made by hand in Finnish Lapland, each drum carries the atmosphere of those ancient times — the deep, resonant sound, the hand-drawn shamanic symbols, the feeling that something old and knowing has been quietly woken up. Crafted with conscience

All materials are sourced locally from known, ethical and responsible suppliers. The frame is made from double-layered Finnish birch plywood, treated with natural wood wax. The drumhead is genuine Finnish reindeer skin, left undyed to honour its natural beauty, and hand-drawn with shamanic symbols. A wooden handle is attached to the back, and a felted drumstick is included so you can begin your journey straight away.
