The Lion’s Gate Opens – Why 8.8?

“We’ve got a triple eight,” Dennis Vessies explains with infectious enthusiasm in our recent interview. “August 8th, the 8th month, at 8 o’clock in the evening. It’s absolutely magical!”

The Lion’s Gate is an ancient concept linked to the special position of the star Sirius in our sky. The ancient Egyptians used this powerful energy for their own ceremonies and rituals. Now we can connect to this same force – through the medicine of drumming.

A shamanic drum isn’t just an instrument – it’s a living, breathing companion that helps us connect more deeply with ourselves. “When I play the drum a bit by myself, I fall into a very light trance, which grounds me more in my body,” Dennis shares. “It’s very healing.”

But when we do this together around the world? That’s when something greater than the sum of our parts emerges. Energies unite, hearts open, and we remember again who we truly are.

The Time of Heart Warriors is Now

Dennis calls his tribe “Heart Warriors” – those who remember their own power and dare to be light in the darkness. They are the dreamers, but who are now awakening to remember who they are. “We are the song, we are the fire, we are the code. And we are not alone anymore.”

In our interview, Dennis shared something profound: “Did you know that Earth and heart contain the same letters? When we drum, we’re not just healing ourselves – we’re healing our planet too. It’s all the same energy, just rearranged.”

The year 2025 is numerologically a nine year – the number of completion and new beginnings. This fourth Global Drums Gathering could be the turning point that helps Mother Earth to raise the frequency.

Resistance and Power

Dennis has spent numerous hours for networking, marketing and bulding his website. He is refreshingly honest about the challenges of organising such events. “Every time we do something like this, some other resistance happens,” he explains. But that’s precisely what tells us how important this is – the more resistance, the greater the change that’s coming.

This isn’t some fluffy feel-good gathering. We’re talking about real transformation, both personal and global. Drumming has been humanity’s power source for thousands of years – in war and peace, celebration and sorrow.

Dennis emphasises that you don’t need to be some drumming guru; the most important thing is simply being your authentic self. And there’s no right or wrong way to play the drum, just enjoy the moment.
